CEDAR GROVE, NJ — The Cedar Grove Police Department has received several reports of "Trump 2020" election signs being stolen or vandalized in the township.

On Sept. 29 at 8:57 p.m., Ptl. Jason Rivers took a report of criminal mischief to a sign placed on a lawn on Westview Court. The sign, which read “Trump 2020”, was slashed with a razor knife.

One night later, also on Westview Court, Ptl. Joseph Johnson responded to a report of a theft of a “Trump 2020” sign from the lawn of a residence. The homeowner was alerted by his neighbor that two individuals had stolen his sign and were walking down Crestmont Road. Johnson located the two suspects, a 59-year-old female and a 60-year-old male. Both denied taking the sign, which was found on a lawn adjacent to the two suspects. The victim and witness could not positively identify the individuals as the ones responsible for the theft.

On Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m., Patrolman Justin Westra took a report of a theft of two signs placed on a lawn on Ridge Road. The sign, which read “Trump 2020”, was taken between 7 and 9 p.m. At the same time that evening, Rivers took a report of a theft of a “Trump 2020” sign from a lawn on Brunswick Road.
