VERONA, NJ - The year 2020 could very well be known as the year Verona moved forward with a “clear vision” of the future. Transparency will be key as the Verona Town Council takes steps to increase communication with residents.

It was announced at the most recent town council meeting on Monday that the town will be starting a monthly e-newsletter to help keep residents informed. Residents who are on the town’s email list already received a link to sign up. If you did not receive a link, you may go to here to sign up for the newsletter.

The council also resolved to send announcements on public meetings and hearings to three electronic news sources: including TAPInto Verona and Cedar Grove.

In another nod to increased resident participation, the council introduced an ordinance to add a public comment period on agenda items before they vote on resolutions. This change is a direct response to an incident last year when the council approved electronic billboards, heard resident concerns, and then rescinded the just-passed resolution. The new ordinance would allow the public to address concerns immediately, which the council can take into consideration before their vote. The second reading on this ordinance will be at the next town council meeting on January 27.
