VERONA, NJ - Verona residents and dignitaries gathered on Wednesday morning to remember the events of 9/11 and William J. Erwin and Stephen L. Roach, the two Verona residents who lost their lives in the horror of that day 18 years ago.
Mayor Jack McEvoy welcomed everyone. Verona High School Senior Francesca Valle sang the National Anthem and Reverend Jerry Racioppe from the Church of the Holy Spirit led the crowd in an Opening Prayer. After comments from Mayor McEvoy remembering September 11th, James Simpson lit the Memorial Candle.
Before the Closing Prayer by Pastor Lynn Rubier-Caprio of the First Presbyterian Church, HBW 8th grader Erin Michael sang God Bless America. If you did not get to make the ceremony, you can watch the 20 minute video, courtesy of the Township of Verona.
