NEWARK, NJ – A 47-year-old Caldwell man has been arrested and charged with "possession of assault weapons and drug paraphernalia," according to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens II.
A narcotics-related search warrant of Paul Aguilar’s home on Hatfield Street in Caldwell was conducted on Tuesday and six weapons were seized. These included one illegal .9 mm handgun, three rifles and two shotguns.
Detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force whose members include officers from Newark, East Orange, and Rutgers University police departments, along with members Caldwell Police Department and Essex County Sheriff’s Department Tactical Response Team executed the search.
According to Stephens, Aguilar was charged with possession of an assault rifle with an extended magazine exceeding 15 rounds, possession of an assault rifle with a large magazine, violation of regulatory provisions related to firearms and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The seized weapons were as follows, according to the county prosecutor’s office:

*Smith & Wesson MP-15 rifle
*Rugger .22 caliber rifle
*Champion 12 gauge single shot shotgun
*Remington .22 caliber long rifle
*Blow Magnum replica 9mm handgun
