CEDAR GROVE, NJ — Two attempted home invasions on Laura Drive Tuesday night are under investigation by Cedar Grove police.

According to the police department, shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday, police received a call reporting someone had attempted to break in to the back door of a Laura Drive residence. The caller told police that the resident heard glass breaking and found the glass broken in the back French door. No entry was gained.

When the resident began turning on the interior lights, the suspects were apparently scared off. The resident never saw the suspects, so there was no description at that time. Checks of the area were negative.

Further investigation revealed that the suspects had also attempted to enter the residence next door. Residents there found the rear sliding door glass shattered. The resident there did recall hearing a loud noise at 9:30 p.m. but didn’t investigate. No one got into the home, but their ring doorbell camera and their home security cameras captured video of two unknown suspects. The doorbell camera captured the two fleeing past the front door. The home security system cameras captured the pair in the backyard.

One subject is seen wearing a tank top with a large tattoo across the top of his back.

“The suspects appear to be light skin or white males with large builds,” said a statement from Police Chief Joseph Cirasa. “We are attempting to identify them. Please view the photo and video. Perhaps you recognize the tattoo across the back. “
