CEDAR GROVE, NJ - Cedar Grove police issued summons to two adults on Saturday when they were caught swimming at Devil's Hole.

Police were conducting a random check of the Peckman River in Community Park around 4 p.m. when they found swimmers in the water in the area known as Devil’s Hole. An adult male from Harrison and an adult female from Kearny were both issued summons for violating the township ordinance prohibiting swimming in the water.

A deep ravine in the Peckman River, Devil's Hole is located behind Foodtown and the apartments on Little Falls Road near Community Park.  It has long been a picturesque place to visit, but has also been a gathering place for young people.  Cedar Grove Town Council passed an ordinance in June 2018 giving police more authority stop people from swimming.
