VERONA, NJ — A transformer explosion before dawn caused portions of Verona to lose power Thursday morning.

According to Verona police, the explosion, which occurred at around 4:30 a.m., was located near Montclair Golf Club by the West Orange border, on Sunset Avenue.

After the transformer blew, some residents were without power for about a half hour and then, after power was temporarily restored, there was a second outage that also lasted around 30 minutes.

By late Thursday morning, authorities reported that all power in the township had been restored.
