VERONA, NJ - Nicholas Gonzalez tallied 16 points including four 3-pointers to help lead the Verona Hillbillies boys basketball team to a 34-31 victory over Livingston at home on Thursday.  

A dominant first quarter gave Verona an 18-3 advantage over the Lancers.  However, Livingston fought back in the second quarter, scoring 10 points and holding the Hillbillies to just two -- closing the gap to 20-13 at the half.  Livingston outscored Verona 11-7 in the third to make it 27-20 Verona -- but the Hillbillies held them off to clinch the win.

Pierce Coppola scored 11 points for Verona in the win.

The Hillbillies improve to 14-9 for the season.  They host Newark Collegiate on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
