WEST ORANGE, NJ — In the opening game for both teams, the Seton Hall Prep boys soccer team defeated Verona, 1-0, on Thursday.

Verona staged an impressive performance against one of the most highly regarded teams in New Jersey, holding the Pirates scoreless until midway through the second half. That's when Lucas Ross connected on the game's only goal with an assist from Drew Ligotti.

Michael Lipesky of Verona turned away six shots. Tomas Hut of Seton Hall Prep stopped the only two shots he faced.
