VERONA, NJ- The Verona Hillbillies kept their perfect season going with a 50-14 win over Kinnelon Friday Night. Frank Riggio was able to have his way against the Kinnelon defense rushing for over 260 yards and six touchdowns.
With seven minutes left in the half, Kinnelon’s defense appeared to hit Riggio backwards for a loss, but he was able to bounce off the defenders spin away and take it 35 yards in for the score making it 21-0 Verona.
Later in the third quarter Kinnelon gave themselves good field position on the kickoff pinning the Hillbillies deep in their own territory. On the very next play Riggio found the hole in the defense and ran 92 yards for the touchdown holding off multiple Kinnelon defenders with a stiff-arm giving the Hillbillies a 43-7 lead.
Kicker Steven Luehs netted his 100th career point for the Hillbillies (9-0), who move on to face fourth-seeded Newton in the seminfinals this Friday in Verona.
