BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A criminal complaint was filed Monday against a Bridgewater man in connection with a fatal motor vehicle collision on Old York Road in Raritan Borough in September 2020.

Kevin D. Betyeman, 56, of Maple Street, was previously charged with motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving and failure to yield to a pedestrian.

According to a release from Somerset County Prosecutor Michael Robertson, the complaint states that around 3:30 p.m. Sept. 18, Betyeman was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado east on Old York Road when his vehicle hit and killed Celeste Andresen, 60, of Arizona. At the time of the crash, Robertson said, Andresen was attempting to cross Old York Road near Woodmere Street, and was in a well-marked crosswalk.

The complaint also alleges that Betyeman's blood alcohol concentration was above the legal limit of 0.08% several hours after the collision, and he had denied having had any alcohol or intoxicating substances when police questioned him at the scene.

Robertson said the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team and Raritan Borough Police are conducting a joint investigation, and it is still ongoing.

Betyeman will be required to appear before a Superior Court Judge for an arraignment on the criminal complaint no more than 60 days after it was issued.
