WARREN, NJ - Youth Volunteers of the Year were recognized at the last Township Committee meeting. Daniel Gallagher was one of two youth volunteers of the year that were honored..
Committeewoman Carolann Garafola said, “We would like to recognize a number of volunteers who have come out on their own accord, on their own time, and have given up time with their family to volunteer for a number of activities in the recreation commission. You're making Warren Township a pleasant place to live."
Committeeman Mick Marion said, “Being an elected official, and sitting up here, you think about how to make the township a better place and it always falls back on the residents and our volunteers, so thank you very much.”
Gallagher volunteered for the summer playground program and kindergarten camps for three yearsas a counselor in training. Last year, he worked over 152 hours. Last summer, he volunteered at a work camp in the Appalachian Mountains for a week. Daniel is a member of Meyersville Presbyterian Church in Gillette and he played soccer in high school.
The Summer Playground Camp Director said,"Daniel was a very valuable member of our camp team this summer. He is wise beyond his years – a quick thinker and a problem solver. Whenever something needed to be done at camp, Daniel was able to assess the situation and find a solution. Daniel came to camp with a positive attitude each day. His soothing nature was contagious. The staff was always excited to hear that Daniel would be working with them.Tonight, we honor Daniel Gallagher as the 2013 Youth Volunteer of the Year."
