BERNARDS TOWNSHIP, NJ -- The building that formerly housed the A&P in the Dewy Meadow Village shopping center was demolished on Tuesday.

The building has been vacant for two-and-a-half years, since A&P declared bankruptcy and closed all of its remaining stores in November 2015.

In March 2018, the Bernards Township Committee approved a settlement with two developers to build 198 market and affordable rental homes on the site, as well as a 24-unit apartment planned on an old tennis court at neighboring Crown Court apartments.
