PLAINFIELD, NJ - News helicopters heard Thursday afternoon were in the area after Plainfield Police and Fire Units responded to 36 Somerset Street at Acme Windows on the report of an injured adult female at approximately 12:08 pm on Thursday, June 8,

The arriving units determined that the 67-year old woman, who appeared to be distracted by her cell phone, fell approximately six feet into an open bilco door.  The injured woman was extricated from the hole by the Plainfield Fire Division, and was transported to a local hospital by EMS for treatment of her serious injuries.

The bilco doors were open due to the repair of gas lines in the area.
