NEW JERSEY SHORE- If you are looking to take your dog to the beach with you, there are some dog friendly beaches in New Jersey.

Fishermans Cove Conservation Area

Leashed pets are welcome year round. This park is known as the "dog beach, and is located at the Manasquan Inlet.

8th Ave Dog Beach

During the summer season, this is a designated dog beach in the early morning. Offseason, dogs are allowed everywhere, except the boardwalk and the Wonder Bar does Yappy Hour on some days.   

Longport Dog Beach

At the base of the Ocean Drive Bridge on the Longport side across from the fishing pier. It is an off leash beach open year round. No permit or tags are required.

Sunset Beach

Leashed dogs are allowed on Sunset Beach from September 15 through April 15.

Sandy Hook

Pets are allowed on the bay side all year round if they are leashed..   

Sandy Hook/Gateway National Park

Pets are permitted on bay  beaches at Plum Island and Horseshoe Cove throughout the year, but must be leashed.


Island Beach State Park

Dogs are permitted but must be kept on a leashed. The leash can be no longer than six feet. Dogs are not allowed in the lifeguard area during the summer season.

Bay Head Beach

Dogs are allowed off season.

Barnegat Light Beaches

Dogs are allowed off season from Oct. 1  through April 15. All dogs must be on a leash.
