The Watchung Hills Pop Warner Pee Wee team dominated the visiting Camden Simbas cruising to a 26-0 shutout victory and win number two on the young season Sunday. Game captains for Watchung were James Carbone, Julian Sanchez, Elhanan Wilson, and James Palaia.

The Simbas took the ball to start the game but couldn't achieve a first down as the Watchung Hills Wolverine defense was dominant throughout the game. Palaia and Sherrod Hudson led the way each recording a game high five tackles on the day.

The Wolverines took over with good field position and quickly marched down the field for a score. Palaia carried for the touchdown run putting the home squad on top 6-0. Billy Black converted the 2-point kick extending the lead to 8-0.

Mac McAteer executed a perfect on-sides kick following the touchdown to immediately give the ball back to Watchung. McAteer's high-bouncing kick was recovered in the air by Jamarques Lawrence giving the home team great field position again.

Shortly thereafter, quarterback, Ty Marion tossed a smooth pass to Palaia who scored another TD. This time the conversion kick just missed to the right but Watchung led 14-0 at the end of one quarter.

When the Watchung Hills Wolverines got the ball back in the second quarter, the offense performed well executing their blocking schemes. Jake Memoli, Dylan Simon, and Black all had strong blocks on the drive clearing space for their teammates.

Tight end, McAteer, had the key block on the edge as Palaia sprinted down the left sideline for another score allowing Watchung to extend to a 20-0 halftime lead.

The Wolverine offense started slowly in the second half as a fumble gave the ball to Camden pretty quickly. The defense, however, was ready to answer the call and came up with a big play of their own. Corner back, Jake Checchio caused a fumble with a solid hit. Then, Lawrence quickly picked up the loose ball and scampered down the sideline for another Watchung touchdown. The extra point failed but Watchung led 26-0 to end the 3rd quarter of play.

26-0 would be the final margin as the fourth quarter saw the Wolverines go to ball control offense and allowed multiple players to run the ball. Julian Sanchez and James Carbone provided solid gains for the team. Later in the period, Dylan Simon and 'Bob' Dylan Braunstein also carried the ball for the Wolverines.

The Camden offense tried to get on the board as the game came to a close but Hudson had a tackle for a loss and Anthony Bateh made a strong tackle on the edge to prevent the Simbas from mounting any scoring threat at all.

The 2-0 Watchung Hills Pop Warner Pee Wee team will play again next week with the opponent and location TBD.
