SOMERVILLE, NJ - Mary de Stefano and Paul Rapps of Warren First Aid Squad were among those honored when Somerset County Freeholder Director Patrick Scaglione presented citations from the Freeholder Board to more than three dozen emergency medical services (EMS) volunteers from eight local rescue and first aid squads.
Freeholder Patricia Walsh, who has worked as a critical-care nurse for many years, commended the volunteers on their dedication and life-saving efforts during what is known as the “golden hour” after a patient first becomes ill or injured.
Citations were presented at the Board of Freeholders’ Oct. 28 meeting for the following individuals who have devoted 25 or more years of service to their local squad:
Somerville Rescue Squad: James Barry, LeRoy Gunzelman III, Donald Barry, Glenn Barry, Shaun Bigelow, Michael Stitley, James Thomas and Steven Weinman
Montgomery Rescue Squad: William Forbes and Bev Glocker
Warren First Aid Squad: Mary de Stefano and Paul Rapps
Peapack-Gladstone First Aid Squad: Gregory Skinner, Judith Fagan and Ann Ryan
Green Knoll (Bridgewater) Rescue Squad: Michael Halperin, Timothy Ring and Todd Kerekes
Bernardsville Fire Co. No. 1: Dick Eick and Conni Beam
Hillsborough Rescue Squad: Al Bauer, Mark Beach, Michael Calabrese, Kevin Caropreso, Scott Donohue, Marvin Freid, Steve Goodman, William Greenhalgh, David Gwin, Geraldine Hall, Stanley Kosinski, James LaVacca, James Maguire, Vincent Mankowski, Richard Von den Steinen and Lori Voorhees
Branchburg Rescue Squad: Sarah Jones, Barbara Karsenty, Paul Malarcher, Grantley Nurse, Robin Radziewicz and Carol Waechter.
