Seubert is in his fourth season as head coach of the Warriors.

“Since taking over as head coach of our football program, Rich Seubert has been a respected and invaluable member of the Watchung Hills Regional High School athletic department,” said Dan Root, Director of Athletics at Watchung Hills Regional High School in a New York Giants press release. “In addition to instilling the importance of building a team with solidarity as its foundation, he has implemented many of our district's core values to encourage our student-athletes to represent themselves as successful leaders in the classroom, on the field and in the community. His passion for the game and his commitment to our school community has resulted in great pride and progress for our team. We are very proud of Coach Seubert and the entire Warrior football program.”

The Lou Rettino High School Football Coach of the Week Award is part of the Giants’ continuing effort to support local youth football programs. The Giants elected to name the award in memory of former Union High School (NJ) coach, Lou Rettino, for his fine commitment to the game of football, his community and the betterment of his athletes’ lives. Each week during the high school football season, the Giants select one area high school head coach as the Coach of the Week winner. The selection is based on the coach’s continuing commitment towards promoting youth football, developing motivated student-athletes and his overall community involvement.

Coach Seubert’s honor will be acknowledged with an in-stadium announcement when the Giants host Washington on September 29. All 2019 Coach of the Week honorees and the 2019 Coach of the Year will also be invited to attend a dinner hosted by the Giants at MetLife Stadium in the Spring, and will be invited with their teams to a Giants preseason game in 2020.

Seubert is in his fourth season as head coach of the Warriors. After joining the New York Giants as an undrafted free agent offensive lineman in 2001, Seubert went on to become a starting member for the team.  He played his entire ten year career with the Giants from 2001 to 2010, including starting at left guard for the 2007 Super Bowl championship team.
