The Long Hill Library is offering a program for parents, caregivers & educators called Helping Kids with Grief & Loss on Saturday, May 6 @ 12:30.
The death of a family member, friend, school mate, or significant person is a lifelong loss for children & teens. It is natural for kids to miss the person who died and to experience confusion and grief. Grief may come and go with different levels of intensity for some time after the death.
It's challenging for parents and caregivers to know what to do, what to say, and how to help children who are hurting. Grief reactions are varied, wide ranging and unique to each person. This program, for adults, will provide useful information on how to help a grieving child or teen; and provide you with understanding and compassion for kids dealing with grief.
Our speaker, Robert Ludwig, obtained his graduate degrees from Columbia University. He has worked extensively with children and teens in therapeutic educational programs and bereavement support. He founded and directed The Healing Center, a clinical bereavement counseling program for children and adults. Robert is an adjunct professor at CUNY Brooklyn College. In clinical practice, he specializes in therapeutic interventions for grieving parents and their children due to a sudden death.
The Long Hill Township Library is located at 917 Valley Road, Gillette, NJ 07933.
This program is free and open to the public.
