WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield’s first annual International Development Festival scheduled for this Thursday in Unami Park has been canceled. The event was planned to honor the late Darren Lederman and to raise funds to help his family.

Organizer Lisa Pipher said that there were not enough soccer registrations to make the event feasible. In addition, she said, with a high chance of lightening in the weather forecast, food trucks and vendors withdrew from the event.

However, Pipher said she hopes to hold the festival in June 2017. Next year’s festival will include a 3 v. 3 soccer tournament and many of the same vendors and food trucks that were planned for this week, she said.
