Jersey Shore Restaurant Week Ends April 30

This spring’s Jersey Shore Restaurant Week, which runs from Friday, April 21 to Sunday, April 30, features nearly 90 restaurants, including six from Belmar.

BELMAR, NJ — Six Belmar restaurants will feature a menu of flavorful fare during this spring’s Jersey Shore Restaurant Week, which begins on Friday, April 21.

From new dishes to tried-and-true favorites, menus have been created specifically for the popular 10-day dining event by these borough-based eateries: Brandl, Jersey Shore BBQ, La Dolce Vita, La Terrazza Cucina Rustica & Bar, Mr. Shrimp and Waves on Main.

They are among nearly 90 restaurants participating in the event, which will be held from Friday, April 21 through Sunday, April 30.

Now in its eighth year, Jersey Shore Restaurant Week offers diners the opportunity to enjoy three-course, prix-fixe meals at participating restaurants. For $22.17 or $32.17, they can choose an appetizer, entrée and dessert from a special menu for lunch, dinner or both.

“For restaurateurs, it is an opportunity to boost their business at traditionally slow times of the year and to ‘show off’ their talents to people who haven’t enjoyed the restaurant yet, ” said JSRW chairman Jim Flynn, creator of the biannual dining extravaganza, held in April and November.

“The goal for diners is to experience restaurants they may not have heard about or been to yet and to be able to do that at a great price,” he said.

Owners and staff at Belmar’s participating establishments are eager to not only attract new diners, but to bring in their regular patrons to try out new selections.

“We put new items on the menu (during restaurant week) that we plan to introduce for the summer season,” said Mike Impagliatelli, a server at Jersey Shore BBQ, located in Belmar Plaza, which has participated in JSRW for six years.

Another JSRW destination in Belmar Plaza is Brandl, which has been part of the Belmar dining community for 15 years. In addition to offering a three-choice option for appetizers, entrees and desserts, the restaurant will feature live music.

Mr. Shrimp, Route 71, is serving up a “mix and match” option, allowing diners to make selections from both menus at $27.17 per meal. The casual eatery also includes a take-out market, featuring a 16-foot counter stocked daily with fresh seafood.

Along the Belmar beachfront, La Dolce Vita and La Terrazza Cucina Rustica & Bar are back offering a wide selection of menu choices — from salads and seafood, to pork and pasta, according to owner Giuseppe Salpietro. Both artfully designed Italian restaurants include full-service bars, and bar service is available with indoor and patio dining overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Although Waves on Main is not a newcomer to restaurant week, its new owners are. Kathy and Lou Farese, who formerly owned Kathy and Lou’s Kitchen in Manasquan, took over the Main Street restaurant, located on the corner of 10th Avenue, last November. “This is our first restaurant week, and we are excited about it,” Mrs. Farese said, adding there will be live entertainment on Friday, April 21 and April 22.

“We have a menu that showcases what we do best — fresh, classic selections that are made to order,” Mrs. Farese said. “We want our place to feel like home and accommodate everyone who walks through our doors. Good food shouldn’t be rushed; it should be enjoyed.”
