SUMMIT, NJ - As the director of the Summit Library, Susan Permahos had a problem keeping track of all the events community organizations were holding. Then along came TAPinto CEO Michael Shapiro.

 

TAPinto offered to develop a community calendar, free of charge for the City of Summit, called Summit Today. Those efforts were recognized on Tuesday night when the Libraries of Union County Consortium honored Shapiro with its "Business Owner of the Year" award at a reception and ceremony held in the Summit Library.

"He has been selected as the business leader of the year because of the good work he's done for Summit," Permahos said. "Summit Today is getting more and more popular with community organizations."

TAPinto has also developed a community calendar, free of charge for Warren Township.

Also honored at the dinner ws Roselle Police Lieutenant Joanne Scaturo as "Advocate of the Year; Roselle Board of Trustees as the "Board of Trustees of the Year; Assembywoman Annette Quijano of the Kenilworth Library as the "Elected Official of the Year"; Friends of the Westfield Library as the "Friends Group of the Year"; Karla Quinone-Ruggiero of the Garwood Public Library as the "Volunteer of the Year"; Michelle Mitchell of the Hillside Library as the "Staff Member of the Year," and the Hillside Library Staff as the "LUCCy" winner."

Eva Lesko Natiello, author of The Memory Box, was the featured speaker at the event. She is a New York Times and USA Today best-selling author.

The Summit Library also used the occasion to show off its renovated children's room.
