STIRLING, NJ - Based on the needs of Long Hill Montessori School families and the community, Long Hill Montessori School is adding a 3-5 full day schedule, 8:30 a.m. to 2:50 p.m., in The Acorn Room. The program is designed for children aged 2 years, as well as a wrap around After School Program for enrolled children aged 2 to 6 years.
The Acorn Room is designed to give each child a positive first school experience. It enables the child to feel safe and relaxed in the classroom and aids him/her in forming strong bonds with teachers and friends. The program aids in developing confidence, independence and verbal skills. It is designed to help the child develop social and emotional footing. This gives him/her the opportunity to actively pursue their unfolding interests.
Their classroom quickly becomes a beloved and special place for them. The steady rhythm of coming to school helps create a positive attitude toward school. It also gives children a strong feeling of belonging to this community that they help create, and of which they are valued and respected members. The Acorn Room curriculum lays the groundwork for The Oak Room.
Children enrolled in the After School Program enjoy leisure time with friends and staff in a mixed-age environment. The hours of the program are 2:50 p.m. to 5:50 p.m.
