SOMERVILLE, NJ – Michael Streko, age 34, and Amy Streko, age 32, were apprehended in Port Jervis, NY at 6 p.m. Friday evening. Their son Everett Streko, age 8, was with his parents and is not injured, according to a release by Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano.
Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and the Green Brook Police Department are enroute to Port Jervis to continue the investigation.
Both parents have been charged with Custodial Interference, 3rd Degree. Detectives plan to reunite Everett with his grandmother/guardian.
A photo of the boy with an Italian greyhound named Duke and a black miniature pinscher named Henry, was released earlier Friday by the Prosecutor's Office, three days after a reward of up to $2,500 was offered by Crime Stoppers of Somerset County for information leading to the location of the boy and the arrest of his parents.
The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is available at this time.
Everett Streko was last seen by his grandmother/legal guardian at 10:30 p.m. on July 16, at her residence located on Kings Court, Green Brook Township. On Friday morning July 17, the grandmother noticed that her daughter-in-law Amy Streko who is Everett’s biological mother and was also living at the King Court residence, was missing along with Everett and all of the child’s personal belongings.
