WARREN, NJ -  A multi-vehicle crash on Route 78 west just west of Warren Township near milepost 30 has caused lane closures and backups.

Hillcrest Road, Warrenville Road, Washington Avenue and Morning Glory Road are now closed. 

As of 3:27 p.m. Bonnie Burn Road in Watchung  is also closed in both directions.

All schools are operating on an early dismissal. 
The Warren Township Library will be closing at noon today, Jan. 21.

The hills of Warren Township are snow covered and slippery. The National Weather Center has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of New Jersey. Significant snowfall is expected today and tonight followed immediately by bitterly cold air.

The Warren Township Police Department has said, "Remember, four-wheel drive helps you drive, not stop. Please drive slow and keep your distance between the car in front of you. Stay safe everyone."

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday.
A Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect from until 11 a.m. Wednesday.

All airports are now open however, flights are delayed and airports may close soon. Check with your carrier for updated information.

A fast-moving but potent weather system will bring snow to our entire area today into this evening. As the storm strengthens to our east  later today, the winds will increase resulting in areas of blowing and drifting snow. As the storm continues to exit bitterly cold air will quickly settle in tonight into Wednesday rendering road treatments ineffective.
Snow accumulations are now expected up to 12 inches. Snow  will fall at rates of around an inch per hour for the duration of the afternoon. The Axis of heaviest snow will shift into New Jersey and Delaware during the evening.
Travel will be hazardous due to snow covered roads and periods of very low visibility. Areas of blowing and drifting snow will develop especially this evening and tonight. The afternoon and evening rush hour will be significantly impacted. The morning commute on Wednesday will be affected by drifting snow.
