SOMERVILLE, NJ – The traditional National Football League Thanksgiving Day game this year features a 12:30 p.m. contest between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings, a game that will be of particular interest to local residents, as two graduates of Immaculata High School are on either side of the line of scrimmage.

Tashawn Bower, ’13 is a third-string 6'5", 250-pound defensive lineman for the Vikings; lightly used, he’s managed only one sack this year.

Theo Riddick, Class of 2009, is a running back for the Lions who has run 40 times for 141 yards going into the Thanksgiving game, with 282 yards on 33 receptions and 2 touchdowns.

The two teams, fierce rivals in the rough-and-tumble NFC North Division, faced off  earlier this season on Oct. 1 in Minnesota.

The Thanksgiving Day game has added drama, as the Vikings, 8-2, are at the top of the NFC North Division, with the Lions in second place at 6-4.

Bower and Riddick both played for Immaculata Coach Pierce Frauenheim.
