Boy Scouts of America, Patriots’ Path Council honored local citizens at the 2016 Watchung Hills Good Scout Award Dinner on the evening of Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at The Primavera Regency in Stirling.  This year’s honorees are Hon. Patrick Boccio, Tom & Steve Castronovo, Kevin Dempsey, Anthony Franchini, and Dr. Andrea Hayeck. The event recognizes these six outstanding citizens for their community service, as evidenced by their leadership and interests within the Watchung Hills community, and for their embodiment of the values of the century old Scout Oath and Law in their personal and professional lives. The event chairman is Wayne Hanlon, a past Watchung Hills Good Scout Award recipient and an active volunteer in the community.

Hon. Patrick Boccio is the Former Mayor of the Township of Green Brook; Tom and Steve Castronovo own and operate Edgewood Pharmacy in Warren; Kevin Dempsey is the Committee Chair of Boy Scout Troop 56, Millington; Anthony Franchini is Vice President at TD Bank in Warren; and Dr. Andrea Hayeck is the owner of Dr. Andrea Hayeck in Linden, Carteret Dental in Carteret, and Olcott Dental Arts in Bernardsville.

The Watchung Hills area has a very active Scouting program for over 450 youth in five Cub Scout packs (for boys ages 7 to 11 years) and five Boy Scout troops (for boys ages 11-18), sponsored by: St. Mary’s Stony Hill RC Church, All Saints Episcopal Church-Millington, St. Vincent DePaul RC Church, Watchung Warren Rotary Club, Mary E. Wilson Memorial Church, First Presbyterian Church-Stirling, Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church, and Green Brook School PTO.
