BERNARDS TWP., NJ - Bernards Township's Parks and Recreation Month is underway - every July, the township Parks & Recreation department coordinates live music, outdoors films and live theater at parks around the township.

All events are free, although donations are appreciated for outdoor performances of Plays in the Park at Pleasant Valley Park.

Here is the rundown on what township residents (and those nearby) can expect to enjoy through the remainder of July, and beyond.

Coming up next, as part of the Tuesday concert series, is Asbury Fever. Concerts will be held at 7 p.m. at Pleasant Valley Park off Valley Road. (Rain location is the Ridge High School Performing Arts Center, 268 S. Finley Ave., Basking Ridge.

Other scheduled concerts are Jimmy & the Parrots on July 19, and Beatlemania Again on July 26. Concert-goers are asked to bring their own blankets or chairs for seating.

Residents are also asked to bring seating to Summer Movie Nights at approximately 8:30 p.m. (dusk) on Wednesdays at Harry Dunham Park off Somerville Road. 

The next scheduled movie is "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2." In case of rain, movies will be shown the following evening.

In cooperation with Trilogy Theater Co. of Basking Ridge, the Plays in the Park series, to be held at the outdoor amphitheater at Pleasant Valley Park, kicks off with the staging of "In the Heights," scheduled for 8 p.m. on July 14, 15 and 16; and July 21, 22 and 23.

"The Rain Maker" is scheduled to be performed on July 29 and 30; and August 4, 5 and 6.

More details on this summer's Plays in the Park series was announced last month.
