Nathan's Famous

No trip to Coney Island is complete without a stop at Nathan's Famous. Stop at the original location that has been on Surf Avenue for over one hundred years, or take a break from beach activities to visit the one on the boardwalk. The line will be long, but the wait for just the right hot dog and side of fries will be worth it.

 Ruby's Bar and Grill

You do not need to travel all the way to California to enjoy a beach bar with a drink in your hand. Ruby’s Bar and Grill is the oldest bar on the Coney Island boardwalk. At this family owned establishment, you can enjoy both over summer cocktails or a cold beer on their beach front patio or inside at the forty five foot long bar as you listen to tunes from the jukebox. Since you are right on the ocean, try the seafood selections, such as clams on the half shell or fried shrimp.

You might be on the beach, but you’re still in Brooklyn. A good pizza is not far away with coal oven pizza. Totonno's, a few blocks away, on Neptune Avenue has you covered. It is wise to get there early in order to get your Neopolitan style pie, and if you have more than one person in the group, have one person wait in line for the group because it will get long. You can either eat pizza there or take it with you as you walk back onto the beach.

Before you head home for the day, go as crazy as a kid in a candy store at William’s Candy. For a different take on a Halloween treat, get their candy apples dipped in chocolate, sprinkles, or different flavors of jelly.
