MADISON, NJ - An arrest was made Thursday afternoon stemming from a several month long undercover investigation into allegations of illegal sexual activity at a local massage parlor, Madison Body and Soul located at 7 Waverly Place. D/Sgt. Paul Kosakowski charged Bing Shin, 47 of Flushing, NY with promoting prostitution.
The 7 Waverly Place building in Madison houses Crowley's Cupcakes and Cambridge Street Papers on the ground level.
During the investigation, police confirmed that prostitution was taking place, where money was exchanged for sexual favors.
"Information was gained through months of surveillance at the location, which is also advertised on backpage.com. Undercover officers arrested Shin, an employee at the location. Following the investigation, police seized a sum of cash, a ledger books containing past customers information, and phone records," according to Lt. John Miscia of the Madison Police Department.
Also present in the establishment was a surveillance system that captured customers entering and leaving the location.
The investigation is still ongoing and additional charges could be forthcoming. Madison Police Chief Darren Dachisen commented on the arrest. “This type of establishment will not be tolerated in our community and we will make every effort to ensure other establishments are operating within the confines of the law”.
"Shin was later released pending a Madison Municipal Court appearance," said Miscia.
