WARREN, NJ - Registration is still open for some of the new programs offered by the Somerset Hills YMCA at The Community School at Watchung Hills. The programs will launch on Monday, Sept. 30 and will be held at Watchung Hills Regional High School.
Through The Community School at Watchung Hills, the Y will initially offer group exercise classes including Pilates, T’ai Chi, Yoga and Zumba, as well as community safety training, such as Babysitting, CPR, Basic Life Support and First Aid. The Adult School of the Chathams will complement programming with enrichment classes in Languages, Interior Design, Retirement Planning, Photography, SAT Prep and much more. Session lengths vary and are pro-rated accordingly. Programs will grow and evolve for future sessions based on community interests and needs.
“This is a fine example of three organizations collaborating for the benefit of the community. At the Y, we work each day to make a meaningful difference in the life of everyone,” said Andi Williams, vice-president of Strategic Partnerships at the Somerset Hills YMCA. “We are thrilled to be able to bring exciting and excellent programs in health, wellness and education to the Watchung Hills community.”
As cause-driven, community organizations, both the Y and The Adult School of the Chathams share a common goal of providing opportunities that encourage living life more fully, improve health and well-being, and foster personal achievement. The Community School at Watchung Hills has been realized through a partnership based on that shared goal, as well as the contribution of classroom space offered by Watchung Hills Regional High School.
“I am excited and proud to continue and build upon a long tradition of meeting the community’s needs through healthy opportunities and continued education,” mentioned Superintendent of Watchung Hills Regional School District, Elizabeth Jewett. “To be able to open our high school doors to The Community School at Watchung Hills will be a wonderful benefit to so many in this area.”
