BERNARDS TWP., NJ _ Equestrians taking riding lessons at Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge can continue their classes at the stable's indoor riding lesson, with sign-ups due to begin this Saturday morning, Dec. 8.

The Somerset County Park Commission announces that openings are available for Winter Horseback Riding Classes at the stabe, located at 256 S. Maple Ave. in Basking Ridge, for a ten-week session that begins on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019.

Once again, English-style lessons are being offered to juniors (ages 9 to 17) and adults, and will be aimed at levels that start with absolute beginners through instruction for advanced riders with jumping experience.

Registration begins online at 8 a.m. on Saturday at and at the stable office, located at the riding facility. After Dec. 17, all registrations must be made in the stable office.

All winter classes will take place in the stable's spacious indoor arena, which includes a climate-controlled viewing area is open to friends and family members who may wish to observe. 

Adults above the Beginner 1 level have the option of riding once a week for the full 10-week session or for the first or last five weeks. All junior classes will meet once a week for ten weeks.  The schedule of classes is available online and in the stable office.

Riders who have previous experience and can post the trot, but have not ridden at Lord Stirling Stable, must be evaluated prior to registration to be placed in the appropriate level.  These riders are asked to call the stable office to schedule a testing appointment at their convenience,

The 10-week, one-hour lesson rates are $375 for Somerset County residents, and $525 for out of county residents. 

Payment is due at registration and is payable by cash, check, MasterCard, American Express, Visa or Discover. New students who live in Somerset County must show a driver’s license, Motor Vehicle identification card or local tax form as proof of residency.
