RU Ready for Rutgers Football? Tickets on Sale Next Week

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - There's a lot of promotions planned this fall as part of the Rutgers football season.

Single game tickets go on sale Thursday, July 12, with seven home games. There's matchups against Big Ten East opponents Michigan and Penn State, and a first-time cross divisional meeting with Northwestern.

If football is not your thing, there's plenty else planned to get you to Rutgers on Saturdays this fall.

Get ready for “RU Brewfest,” a beer festival for fans prior to the Indiana game, highlighting a full list of promotional themes at High Point Solutions Stadium. The 2018 home opener also marks the return of “War Before the Shore,” a game that honors a long-standing New Jersey tradition to head to the shore for the final weekend of the summer.

Rutgers will announce Scarlet Memories, a mobile-based program that allows fans to customize their game day experience via the Rutgers Gameday App. All fans can participate in these exclusive offers, which include game day stadium tours, fourth quarter sideline passes, behind-the-scenes access, mascot seat visits and more. The program will launch on Aug. 15 at 10 a.m. for all seven homes games and Scarlet Memories are available for purchase with a valid debit/credit card. All season ticket holders will receive free credits in their account based on priority points. 

The Scarlet Knights open the season with a pair of home non-conference matchups against Texas State on Sept. 1 and Buffalo on Sept. 22. RU enters conference play with back-to-back home games against Big Ten opponents Indiana on Sept. 29 and Illinois on Oct. 6. The game against the Fighting Illini will serve as the Blackout game, with the Scarlet Knights donning their all-black uniforms.

Rutgers will host Northwestern on Oct. 20 for Homecoming, before closing out the home slate against Michigan on Nov. 10 and Penn State on Nov. 17. Entering the third season under the direction of head coach Chris Ash, the Scarlet Knights return 16 of 22 starters from a 2017 team that doubled its win total from the previous year and matched a program-best conference win total.

Rutgers consolidated its single game ticket prices to three affordable options per game that vary based on seat location. Discounted season ticket holder add-ons (limit eight per game) are available until July 12 when single game tickets go sale to the general public. 

Texas State - Saturday, Sept. 1 at Noon

Coined “War Before the Shore” in honor of the New Jersey tradition to head to the shore for the final weekend of summer, the Scarlet Knights welcome Texas State to Piscataway. In addition to a Block R sandcastle and boats located throughout the stadium, there will be many other fan-friendly promotions such as an exclusive tank top giveaway for students while supplies last. The game is presented by PNC Bank.

It is also Youth Football Day, presented by PNC Bank, as Rutgers will provide a special ticket offer and pre-game clinic to local youth teams. To learn more about how to bring your youth team to the game, please contact Nicole Collins, NCollins@scarletknights.com.

Indiana - Saturday, Sept. 29 - Time TBD

Rutgers will host RU Brewfest in the Block R Party prior to the Indiana matchup as fans can purchase access to a beer festival as well as a ticket to the game for $50. Capacity for the beer festival is limited and fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets early. A limited quantity will be reserved for season ticket holders to purchase.

RU Brewfest will feature Oktoberfest and numerous seasonal craft beers, in addition to Bavarian snacks. The event will also feature live music outside the Block R Party, a great location to view the Scarlet Walk.

Rutgers has once again teamed with Varsity Spirit for their annual Cheer Day event.  This exclusive opportunity is available to all Junior High and High School cheerleaders and dancers to learn firsthand what a true college game day is like. Varisity Spirit will host a clinic prior to the game, teaching a routine that all cheer day participants will have an opportunity to perform on the field at halftime.  For more information and tickets please click here.

Illinois - Saturday, Oct. 6 - Time TBD

Rutgers will host its highly anticipated Blackout game against the Illini. Fans are encouraged to attend the game in black Rutgers gear as the Scarlet Knights will wear their all-black uniforms.

Parents of Rutgers students will have access to a special ticket offer as part of Parent & Family Weekend, hosted by Rutgers’ New Student Orientation and Family Programs. Parents and families can access special ticket pricing through their student's ticket portal. Students will need their RUID to log in. Northwestern - Saturday, Oct. 20 at Noon

Rutgers hosts Northwestern, which is coming off a No. 17 ranking in the final AP/Coaches polls in 2017, for the annual Homecoming game and first-ever meeting between the two schools as Big Ten Conference members. Rutgers alumni and all fans are invited to participate in a full day of Homecoming festivities and promotions.

There will also be a special on-field ceremony to recognize the induction of the Rutgers Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2018.

Michigan - Saturday, Nov. 10 - Time TBD

Rutgers will pay homage to members of the Armed Forces on Military Appreciation Day, presented by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ. Over 5,000 former and active servicemen/women will be in attendance as part of the R Heroes ticket donation program. Penn State - Saturday, Nov. 17 - Time TBD

Rutgers hosts Penn State in the final home contest of the season as senior football student-athletes will be honored on the field in a special pre-game ceremony. The game is presented by RWJBarnabas Health.
