WARREN, NJ - David Bird is still missing. The Emergency Operations Center has been open since 7 a.m , and a comprehensive briefing was conducted at 8 a.m.

Search operations are fully mobilized at this time.  The NJSP Aviation Unit will be flying low overhead in the area of Millington, Basking Ridge, and Warren Township within the next couple of hours.  Morris County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit is fully deployed in field searches. The Morris County Underwater Rescue and Recovery Team will be conducting water search operations.  Ground personnel are searching areas in Millington and Stirling.


Residents are asked to share the information with all your family and friends.

Information and two sightings in Warren Township and Bernards Township this morning, suggest Bird may be walking in the area of Bernards Township, Warren Township and Long Hill Township.

Morris County Park Police are searching the area on horseback and with ATVs, and the Morris County Sherriff’s Office is searching with canine units and ATVs. The New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit is also assisting with helicopters

Police ask residents of Millington in the area of the Long Hill Road and Basking Ridge Road to check their properties for any unusual activity, including checking enclosed areas such as garages, boats, sheds, and cars.

Due to a medical condition, Bird may be confused and disoriented. He is not dangerous. He was last seen wearing a distinct bright red jacket with two yellow zippers.

If anyone sees someone wearing this type of jacket matching Bird’s description, they should contact the EOC at (908) 647-1800, Option 1, Extension 236.
