BERNARDS TWP., NJ - Olympian and U.S. Women’s National Team Star midfielder Tobin Heath - who also graduated from Ridge High School in 2006 - will return to teach a one-day soccer camp at the Pleasant Valley Park field that last fall was named in her honor.
The one-day Citi Tobin Heath Soccer ProCamp, presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on June 4th at Pleasant Valley Park off Valley Road in Basking Ridge, according to an announcement passed along by the Bernards Township Department of Parks and Recreation.
The camp is open to boys and girls of all skill levels in grades 1 to 8, the announcement said. Cost of the camp is $149, with Citi cardmembers eligible to receive 20 percent off their tuition.
The camp is open to young players from anywhere, not just Basking Ridge, said Parks and Recreation Director Jennifer Gander.
Participants will learn fundamental soccer skills and have the opportunity to meet and interact with the star midfielder, the announcement said. Each participant will receive a souvenir autograph from Heath, and also can be part of a team photo with the home-grown soccer star.
Heath will be on-site to direct the event and will be joined by a selection of prep and college coaches from the area, the announcement said.
The camp’s event partners include Welch’s Fruit Snacks and Cincy Apparel.
