WARREN, NJ – The storm has arrived and Hillcrest Road, Washington Avenue and Warrenville Road north of Route 22 are closed to traffic due to poor road conditions, police have advised.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has closed all State offices and all local schools are closed.
The storm did not begin until approximately 5 a.m. this morning, but has quickly intensified.
Due to inclement weather, ALL Somerset County offices are closed. This includes Somerset County-operated transportation services, which have been cancelled, and all other offices and programs.
Meals on Wheels clients are asked to use the non-perishable meals sent out earlier in the season. If clients do not have frozen meals, or if they have lost power, they can use Heater Meals, shelf-stable meals that come in an orange box. Directions for heating are on the box. Heater Meals are NOT intended for use in a microwave oven.
In the event you lose power, contact your local power provider and not Police Communications unless an emergency exists:
Help the Department of Public Works with snow removal by removing your vehicle from the side of the road. Do not push snow from your driveway back onto the street and do not call 9-1-1 about snow removal from your street.
After the storm, remember to clear all snow and ice for your vehicle, sidewalks and fire hydrants.
Be prepared in case of power outages. Charge your electronics, get batteries, flashlights and candles ready.
