Suspect Faces Multiple Charges in Burglary of Green Brook Residence

GREEN BROOK, NJ – A Plainfield man faces multiple charges in connection with the burglary of a Green Brook residence on July 6.

Khiry Moody, 28, of Sumner Avenue, Plainfield, has been charged with 2nd degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, 2nd degree Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons, 3rd degree Burglary, Degree, 3rd degree Theft, and 4th degree Criminal Mischief, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.

Moody is being lodged in the Somerset County Jail  in Somerville pending a detention hearing.

Robertson provided the following account:

Officers assisting the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Burglary Task Force responded to a residence located on Lillian Street in Green Brook Township to investigate a home burglary on July 6 at 12:30 p.m. and saw Moody driving away from the home. Ten minutes later, police stopped Moody's vehicle in the area of West 8th Street, South Plainfield.

Police found various items of jewelry belonging to the residents on Lillian Street on Moody; he was taken into custody and a Superior Court-issued search warrant was obtained. Police recovered a safe, a handgun, and rounds of ammunition that were taken from the residence.
