NORTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Route 22 travelers, residents and dignitaries all jammed into the Texas Roadhouse this past Monday as North Plainfield’s latest Route 22 establishment opened in grand style.

North Plainfield Mayor Michael Giordano flanked by Texas Roadhouse Manager Larry Waugh cut the ribbon opening the doors to cheers as hungry well-wishers piled into Texas Roadhouse to grab a few drinks, wings and famous ribs.

“I’m very happy and proud to be part of Texas Roadhouses’ grand opening,” said Mayor Giordano. “In just a few short years we have turned what was an unoccupied eyesore into a jewel along Route #22. Texas Roadhouse offers a great product, a great family atmosphere and new jobs to the residents of North Plainfield.”

“This is a great place for the town and the community,” said North Plainfield resident George Shebey. “I’ve been waiting for this place to open. So far I’ve had the grilled shrimp and eight ounce streak and they have been great.”

Texas Roadhouse is known for their steaks, Texas sized combos and “fall off the bone ribs.” The establishment offers a fun atmosphere with music, dancing waiters/waitresses and barrels of peanuts just waiting to be eaten and stomped on for good measure.

“We employ approximately 185 people at this location,” said Larry Waugh. “All of the employees are local coming from North Plainfield and all of the other neighboring communities.”

I’m very happy to see all of the development that has gone on in this mall,” said Planning Board Chairman Tom Fagan. “The Mayor and the Administration have done a fantastic job over the last couple of years stimulating economic development here in North Plainfield.”

According to Manager Waugh Texas Roadhouse offers both on-site and off-site catering. They offer early dine specials of 8.99.

Texas Road House boasts over 450 locations nationwide. The company has over 45,000 employees. The North Plainfield location is its fifth location in New Jersey. The grand opening event attracted South Plainfield Council President Derryck White and South Plainfield Councilman Robert Bengivenga to the grand opening festivities. “This is a big win for North Plainfield,” said Council President White. “Today was great opportunity to share best practices around economic development. I truly believe good strategies can come from any source, but you have to be open enough to seek them out.”

Texas Roadhouse is located at 1258 Route 22 in North Plainfield New Jersey. Their phone number is 908-753-3866.
