WARREN,NJ - The Warren Middle School boys and girls soccer teams defeated their semi-final opponents on Monday to advance in the Central Jersey Junior Schools Athletic Association Tournament.
At Mountain Park, Arion Ulaj and Brad Gallagher each netted one goal to lead the Warren boys to a 2-2 double overtime tie with Ridge. Tommy Morris and Michael Guiliano each hit their penalty kicks to lift Warren over Ridge 2-1 in PKs.
“The boys created a memory in their lives today that will live with them for years,” said WMS boys coach Tim O’Heney. “It was a thrill to watch them compete and play with purpose, confidence and skill. It was a team effort the likes I have never seen before with a WMS soccer team. They had a setback before the game, and two during the game but kept on playing, determined to walk off the field with a win. Way to go boys!!”
At home, Ava Prisco scored the only goal of the game to lead the Warren girls over Hillsborough, 1-0. Rebecca Schell earned the shutout in goal.
The boys will travel to face Hillsborough in the finals on Friday and the girls will face Ridge at home.
