WARREN, NJ - The Warren Township Police saved a life on Saturday, March 5.
Police responded to a report of an unresponsive male on Mountain Avenue near Walnut Court. A concerned citizen had pulled over and was providing assistance to the male when officers Robert Dinsmore and Joseph Casorio arrived.
Further investigation revealed a 27 year old male lying in the roadway with shallow breathing and blue lips.
Due to recent training in recognizing opiate overdoses and administering Naloxone(Narcan), the officers determined that the male had overdosed on an opiate and administered Narcan, which is a medication that can reverse the opiate overdose and revives the victim.
In this case, the victim was revived several minutes after receiving Narcan and was transported to Overlook Medical Center by paramedics and Atlantic Ambulance EM-10 for further treatment.
