WARREN, NJ - Warren Township's Memorial Day Parade, under the leadership of the Warren American Legion Post, will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 29.
The parade will kick off at the former post office on Old Washington Valley Road, proceed east to Mt. Bethel Road, north on Mt. Bethel Road, and then east on Mountain Boulevard, ending at the Municipal Complex.
The parade will include representatives from the Watchung Hills High School Marching Band, the Warren Township Middle School Marching Band, Warren Township Emergency Services, American Legion Honor Guard, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and many other charitable organizations, clubs, groups, branches of our military and local businesses.
Preceding this ceremony, a keynote address will be presented by Col. Daniel Mahon, USA (Ret.), along with remarks by Warren Township Mayor, Carolann Garafola. The Master of Ceremonies for the event will be George Grimler, Commander of the American Legion.
Following the parade, a wreath-laying ceremony will be conducted at the Municipal Complex to honor all veterans who have given their lives in defense of our nation.
After the parade and wreath-laying ceremony, the Warren Township Committee will host a Grand Opening and Open House at the new Warren Township Town Hall. The event will include a formal ribbon-cutting by the Township Committee and honored guests, including Congressman Leonard Lance; former Governor Donald DiFrancesco;Somerset County Freeholders Director, Peter Palmer; and Somerset County Freeholder, Brian Levine, along with formal tours of the new building. Special gifts will be presented to those who tour the facility.
Following the Open House, Warren residents are encouragedto attend the American Legion picnic, held at 12 Community Place, to visit with our Warren veterans or attend the Watchung Hills Elks for their annual picnic.
