WARREN, NJ - 240 Warren residents and 36 volunteers took over Dealaman Pond for the 41st annual fishing derby on Saturday. Prizes were awarded in the following categories:

GRAND PRIZE WINNER--- Eliasi Lostin from ECC preschool - 5yrs old – Caught a 28” catfish and received a rod & tackle box.  All other winners received either a rod or tackle box.

The Warren Recreation Department thanks all of the sponsors and volunteers who made this event special:

Warren Blue Ridge Sportmen Club – donated cloth bags, 8 reels, 14 rods & reels and 6 fully equipped tackle boxes and a trout net for raffling; plus 480 hotdogs & hamburgers, 18 pounds of zeppoles and 15 gallons of Italian Ice; The 25 club members also set up and cleaned up; during the derby they loaned 20 rods, fix lines and hooks, measured fish, cooked and instruct children on how to cast.

The Warren PBA Local #235 – donated over 200 hats to the participants.
Ron Jacobsen, Fish and Wildlife – from Hackettstown Hatchery, came with his traveling truck to instruct the children on the safety of fishing and demoed his aquarium of several fish species. Warren Cub Scout Pack # 182 - gave away fresh popped popcorn

Efingers –from Bound Brook, donated 3 rod & reels and 2 tackle boxes
Bait N boat – from Stanhope, donated a rod &reel

Warren Rescue Squad was on hand for our safety
Last but not least, Bruce Vitale has donated his time by gathering the prizes, worms, donations,stocking fish and instructing the children. Bruce created this event and stayed to help for 31 years!

Volunteers included: Township Committee member, Carolann Garafola, Ralph Garafola, Recreation Commissioners Mike Angelini, Mary Ellen Florey & Gary Miller, Ann Vitale, Betty Grossweiller, Winston and Edward Chu. Plus Warren Blue Ridge Sportsmen Club, Bruce Vitale, Warren PBA Local #235, Warren Rescue Squad and Cub Scout Pack 182. And a special thanks to the Warren Department of Public works for all their help getting the pond ready and helping the day of the event.
