WARREN, NJ - The Warren Township Committee recognized Recreation commission volunteers of the year 2017 at the last meeting. 

The Recreation Commission offered their thanks and said, "we could not offer any of these programs mentioned if it weren't for the dedication of the amazing volunteers we have here in Warren. We are humbled and honored to know all of you. Thank you all so much."

Individual 2017 Volunteer of the Year is Mariusz Idasiak.

Recreation Commission Chairman David Cole along with Mayor Victor Sordillo and Deputy Mayor Gary DiNardo presented the award to Idasiak, a 12-year Warren resident.

Idasiak photographed events for the recreation commission including the Winter Festival, fishing derby, and TeenFest as well as volunteered for the Chamber of Commerce’s Holiday Walk with Santa and taking drone photographs of the municipal grounds, Sordillo said.

Sordillo expressed the township's "appreciation and admiration.”

2017 Group Volunteer of the Year is Take Flight Dance Company.

Deputy Mayor DiNardo said, “They have been volunteering for the recreation commission for five years and performing at many of our events, including Do-Wop concerts, the winter festivals, the Holiday Walk, Warren’s Got Talent and Brite Nites.

“The motto of the school is where dreams take flight and that is why we love to do shows in our community, to inspire other kids to dream big,” said Take Flight owner Jill Cookingham. “Thank you girls, thank you studio parents and thank you Township of Warren for this special award.”


And the following youth volunteers were recognized for over 50 volunteer hours and over 100 volunteer hours.The volunteers, and their number of hours worked, are as follows:
