WARREN, NJ - With the crowd chanting her name, Ally Grunstein netted two goals in the last 18 minutes of the game, on assists from Amanda Marques, to lead Watchung Hills to a 2-1 victory over Phillipsburg in the first round of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 girls soccer tournament.
Madeline Marron scored in the first half on an assist from Brooke Kocsis to put Phillipsburg on the board first, but the Warriors dominated play. In goal, Lea Andriola had one save for Watchung Hills and Haley Jacobs made 13 saves for Phillipsburg.
Watchung Hills advances to take on Bridgewater-Raritan on Nov. 7. Bridgewater defeated Plainfield today, 11-0. Watchung Hills and Bridgewater-Raritan have faced off twice already this season with each team winning one game.
