WARREN, NJ - Friday, Sept 26 was Future Warrior night and the first home game of the season for the Watchung Hills football team. Following tradition, the Pop Warner Wolverines and the Watchung Hills Junior Warriors joined the varsity squads on the field and the senior's homes were decorated with toilet paper on Thursday night. Watchung Hills fell to Phillipsburg, 48-20.
Joe Giacomo threw two touchdown passes in the second quarter for Watchung Hills, connecting with Frank Rica on a 9 yard pass and Mark Ball on a 15 yard pass. Jack Stefurek kicked both extra points.
Isaiah Allen ran in the last TD for the Warriors in the fourth quarter from the one yard line but the kick failed.
Anthony Guarino threw for two touchdowns of 34 yards and 29 yards while rushing for scores of 48 yards and 3 yards. Joe Maso carried 18 times for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Manny Romero added a rushing touchdown for Phillipsburg.
Watchung Hills faces Hunterdon Central away next Friday, Oct 2.
