HILLSBOROUGH, NJ - The Watchung Hills Middle School Football Varsity Warriors won their twenty first consecutive game this past Saturday when they returned to Hillsborough and played the Junior Raiders' Red squad, beating them 30-0.

The Middle School team got their offensive touchdowns from James Marinello and Vincent Rizzi, and Anthony Brigante scored for the defense, returning a fumble 60-yards, for the Warriors final score of the evening. Peter Ziegler contributed 65-yards rushing on 8 carries to the Warriors' offensive attack.

As in their first win this year, the Warriors defense dominated the evening on the Raiders' home field. Led by the front line of Gio Rodriguez, Tony Rodden, and Max Lippitt the Warriors kept the Junior Raiders out of the end zone. The linebacking crew of Ziegler, Kenny McGoldrick, John Walsh, Alvenis Almonte Justin Helbing, and Brigante combined to stop the run game of the Junior Raiders on the evening. Dylan Reyes and Andrew Scopel also contributed at the position.

The Warriors defensive backs did a fine job of stopping the Junior Raiders pass game, with Jack Murray, Tommy Vlasak, Ryan Cleary, David Rodrigues, David Labib, Jacob Nemcek and Mead Briggs all seeing playing time in the game.

"Last night was a great night for building a team and a program," said coach Sal Marinello after the game. "Our boys worked hard all week and, after being prepared to play the kind of game we all watched, did what the coaching staff asked of them."

The WHMSFB team continues their season this week with their home opener at Watchung Hills Regional High School on Saturday September, 23 at 7:30pm against the Ridge Junior Red Devils.
