WARREN, NJ - The Watchung Hills Jr. Midgets continued their dominating play on Sunday with a victory over the Washington Rock Raiders, 30-0.
Matt Colantuono returned the opening kickoff to the Raider 19 yard line and the Wolverines went the 19 yards with 2 great runs. The first was a 6 yard run by Joey Denave followed by a 13 scamper by Matt Drews for the touchdown with a great block from Charlie Everhard. The second drive was started on a quarterback keeper when Sean Dillon went for 7 yards. Dillon then hit Patrick Stefurak on a 20 pass play for the touchdown. Owen Kovacs then had a great 27 yard run where he picked up a block from Justin Uberoi. Anthony Tomaro broke off a 20 yard run when he got a bone jarring block from Declan Kazan and George Rooks. Tomaro then went in for the touchdown after a 12 yard gain. The fourth and final touchdown of the game was set up by a hard runs by Michael Fornaro and Isaiah Parker. Mario Martino picked up a spectacular block by Chris Hu for his 15 yard touchdown run.
The defense was flawless shutting down the powerful Raider offense. The defensive line of Dylan Capparelli, Adam Claxton, Mark Daas, and Isaiah Parker was great, but the star of the line was Logan Scheibler who had 3 tackles for a loss and a quarterback sack. The linebackers Connor Cook, Owen Kovacs, Andrew Reale, Christian Rowan stuffed the running backs for the raiders all day. The Secondary was led by Mario Martino and Joey Denave who each knocked down passes while Jack Taub added an interception to seal the win. This Sunday October 5 the Wolverines take on the Flemington Falcons at home.
