WATCHUNG, NJ -- Juneteenth commemorates the effective end of slavery in the United States, and all are invited to celebrate Juneteenth from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, at Mobus Field. The free event includes activities, food, drinks, a community quilt project, music and fun.

 
 

The event is organized by the Watchung IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equality and Advancement) Committee, and supported by the Watchung Board of Education, Parent-Teacher Organization, Watchung Library, Watchung Hills Regional High School and the Borough of Watchung.


An online sign-up for the community quilt project, supported by the recreation department, can be found on the borough website at www.watchungnj.gov.
