BRIDGEWATER, NJ - According to a notice from the township, Wegmans, with a location on Route 202 in Bridgewater, has announced a recall of Wegmans 93% Lean Organic Food You Feel Good About Grain Fed Ground Beef because of a report of plastic pieces in the meat.

According to the report, the Class 1 recall was issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service after a report was received from the retailer of consumer complaints that the product itself contained small plastic pieces.

The beef, the release said, is distributed by J&G Foods, in Sutton, MA.

The grocer reported, the release said, that the ground beef was sold in 1-lb vacuum sealed packages and 3-pack containing three 1-lb packages labeled Wegman's Organic 93% lean/7% Fat Grass-Fed Ground Beef. The products have the number Est. 8466 inside the USDA mark of inspection, and also say "USE OR FREEZE BY 1/16/15."

The meat, the notice said, was available for sale in stores between Dec. 27, 2014 and Jan. 13, 2015. The product was shipped to Wegmans locations in Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

According to the notice, there have been no reports at this point of adverse reactions following consumption of the product, and anyone who is concerned about an injury or illness should contact a doctor.
