WARREN, NJ - What will you be thankful for this Thanksgiving Day? We asked some local people to give us answers to that question, and to reflect on what they feel gratitude for this Thanksgiving, either on a personal or community level. Residents  have showed their compassion and generosity by participating in various activities to support those in need; collecting food to assist more than 150 Somerset County families and collecting donations to provide Thanksgiving dinners that includes turkey and all the trimmings to 370 families in need.

I am forever thankful for the unconditional love I share with my family and friends. These times have proven that over and over.  I am thankful for the place where I work that welcomes me everyday with open arms.  And, a special thankful shout out to cooks, kids and coaches everywhere.  Here's to a healthy and safe holiday to us all! Lisa Martins Watchung Hills Regional High School Administrative Assistant to the Athletic Director

We all know 2020 has been a unprecedented year, to say the least.  I am thankful that my family remains healthy, especially my oldest daughter who is on the front lines as a registered nurse dealing with the pandemic one way or another every day.  I am also thankful that as a police department we have been relatively healthy considering our regular dealings with the public and that we’ve been able to maintain the same level of service the township residents deserve and expect.  Continue to be vigilant and stay safe throughout the holiday season. Chief William Keane Warren Township Police Department

I am grateful for too much to put into words but the top four are easy to choose.

  • First of all, I am thankful for the health and happiness of my family which includes my beautiful seven grandchildren who bring me so much happiness.
  • Second, my friends and neighbors who make my life so full and provide support and council.
  • Third, the residents of Warren Township who have had the confidence in me, over many years, to provide leadership and direction for our great town.
  • Fourth, I am very thankful to live in a free and abundant country where we challenge each other for the betterment of us all. - Vic Sordillo Warren Township Committeeman

I am thankful to have a great family with a lot of love and support from my wife Laura and three girls, Mia, Cami, and Kennedy. This is a phenomenal community with so many great qualities, and we are very grateful to be able to work and raise our children here. I feel honored and fortunate to be able to teach and coach at WH with wonderful people like our talented student-athletes, families, colleagues, campers, the community and the LOW brethren. "Not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them, is the true measure of our Thanksgiving." We wish everyone a happy and safe holiday season, and look forward to when we come out of these crazy Covid times stronger than ever.- Justin A. Thankful for the extra weeks of my college boys being home ! Allison Tankel

“This year I am most grateful for the scientists!  Without them, and their concentrated work on a vaccine, we all wouldn't get to (hopefully) soon return to our normal lives (which we had all taken for granted).”-  Patricia Leonhardt, SFO Business Administrator/Board Secretary

As sad,as it has been this year with COVID-19, and missing our family and friends, I think we are still blessed that Jamie and I did not get sick. Thanks to technology that we had zoom and Skype to see family members from Vermont through the Midwest to California and Oregon. On our community side, I was so happy and excited to see neighbors and friends at stores with all of our creative masks, with warm distance Hugs.  I want to wish you and all of our families friends and neighbors, a happy Thanksgiving and holiday, even though we may just be alone at the dinner table, but we will all be together in our hearts and Thoughts. Warmest Regards Gary DiNardo  Warren Township Committeeman

In this unprecedented year, I’m extremely thankful for the health of my family, and hopeful that things will improve moving forward.  Professionally, I’m thankful to the administration of Watchung Hills for allowing us to have a fall season and giving all the student-athletes, coaches and their families, some sense of normalcy when we all needed it.  I wish everyone in the Watchung Hills community a Happy Thanksgiving, and hope everyone enjoys the time safely with family and friends.  Brian Figueiredo Watchung Hills Head Girl’s Soccer Coach
